ITERATION 22, SUBURBIA - recorded audio track ‘Do the mahi, get the treats’ 2019 by Nadine Anne Hura installed with Kiriana O’Connell’s ‘InVISability Cloak | Te Waikoropupū a Tāne’.
The Table conjures images of community, home, sharing of kai, connection, ritual, and belonging – a thread that runs through the work that awaits: remnants of a hug in bronze, paintings inspired by daily walks and elemental kitchen ingredients, melted and repurposed pewter tea sets, film stills of an other-worldly home-bound odyssey, and woven things undone, to name a few.
Published on the occasion of the 2022 Aotearoa Art Fair mothermother project booth group exhibition, with essay ‘Threads For Lost Mothers, or how she gained a Masters of Economics’ by Hanna Scott
Iteration 10 includes a publication documenting work by all 22 members of the collective to date. The book includes an introductory text, contributions from each artist, and three essays exploring the project's take on portraiture, a history of women's art groups in Aotearoa, and an analysis of the artistic economy of reproductive labour:
